USask Law JD personal statement
USask Law asks first-year JD applicants for a personal statement about academic interests and achievements, work and volunteer experience, skills, attributes, and significant life experiences. This is a law-school application after at least 60 university credit units, not a direct high-school admission supplement.

Personal statement of up to 500 words
What to prepare
- 1Select a few experiences that explain your interests and readiness for law rather than trying to fit an entire résumé into 500 words.
- 2Connect a specific academic, work, or volunteer experience to what you learned and would bring to the JD program.
- 3If a Saskatchewan connection matters to your application, explain it with concrete context instead of simply naming the place.
How to approach the writing
- Write the statement entirely yourself and keep the final version within the 500-word maximum.
- Submit the online application first, then upload the statement to the Supplemental Item List; the file is not reviewed until supporting documents are complete.
Before you submit
Applications for September 2027 open October 15, 2026, and the application and supporting-document deadline is February 1, 2027. Discretionary applicants have a separate 500-word explanation of educational disadvantage or interruption; check the additional documents for your category.
