USask home-based learner letter of intent
USask may ask home-based learners applying to a direct-entry college for a letter of intent as part of a wider assessment of educational background and future plans. The accompanying home-school transcript, educational portfolio and résumé serve different purposes; the letter is not a substitute for a college's prerequisites or minimum admission standard.

What to prepare
- 1Explain what you hope to study at USask and which interests led you to that college or program.
- 2Point to a specific home-based project or course that prepared you for the subject.
- 3Describe what you want to learn next and how your independent-study habits will help you transition to university.
How to approach the writing
- Keep course details and evidence in the transcript and portfolio; use the letter to connect them to your goals.
- Review the supplemental-items checklist after applying because the university says documents may be requested by applicant and college.

Mark home-schooling in the Academic History section and follow the portal's requested items. The university does not publish a universal letter length or 2027-specific prompt here; confirm those details and any test or interview request before submission.
