Studio 58 to SFU BFA transfer application essays
Studio 58 Acting graduates seeking the block transfer into SFU's Theatre & Performance BFA submit one PDF assessed by SFU faculty. Alongside a Langara transcript and creative CV, it contains a cover letter and three responses about their artistic direction, making new work, and interests they would bring to live performance. This is a specific graduate transfer pathway, not Langara's general admission essay.
Writing format
Cover letter with a biography of up to 200 words and three answers of up to 250 words each
What to prepare
- 1In the first answer, explain why SFU's Theatre & Performance program fits the next stage of your artistic practice.
- 2Use a concrete project from your CV or other work to show how creating new performance changed your approach as an artist.
- 3For the third answer, connect a genuine interest outside conventional theatre to what it could contribute to live performance at SFU.
How to approach the writing
- Keep the cover letter's short biography distinct from the three 250-word answers; the CV separately records your creative history.
- Assemble the cover letter, unofficial Studio 58 transcript, CV of no more than four pages, and answers in one PDF under 15 MB.
Before you submit
Langara lists June 15, 2027 for the complete application and July 2027 for shortlisted interviews. The route is for Studio 58 Acting diploma graduates with at least a 2.6 GPA; accepted applicants then apply to SFU separately.
