Carleton Nursing supplementary essay
Applicants to Carleton's Bachelor of Science in Nursing with RN Prescribing write about how their life experiences connect to society and shaped their interest in nursing. This supplement is specific to Nursing, not every Carleton program.
Writing format
Required 500-word admissions essay plus résumé and non-academic requirements
What to prepare
- 1Select a life experience that influenced how you understand care, health, or people's circumstances.
- 2Show the connection between that experience and a social context rather than ending with a personal anecdote.
- 3Explain why the experience led you toward nursing and what you still need to learn.
How to approach the writing
- Give the essay a different purpose from the résumé, which records roles and dates.
- Check that each paragraph answers the nursing question rather than a generic health-care motivation prompt.
Before you submit
Carleton lists March 1, 2027 for the degree application and March 5 for the supplement. The portal permits one final submission and includes clinical and practicum acknowledgments.
