Alberta ATEP letter of intent
The Aboriginal Teacher Education Program accepts Indigenous applicants. Its required letter of intent covers personal background, Aboriginal engagement and awareness, teaching aspirations, and why ATEP fits. The questions beneath those four areas are suggestions, not a fixed essay set. Two references are requested separately through Launchpad.

What to prepare
- 1Describe the background, community connections, and experiences you choose to share in your own terms.
- 2Explain how your engagement with Indigenous knowledges or communities informs your interest in teaching, without treating the suggested questions as a checklist.
- 3Give a concrete reason for choosing ATEP and connect it to what you hope to do as a teacher.
How to approach the writing
- Organize the letter around the four core areas; the published page gives no universal word limit.
- Arrange two eligible references separately and follow the current Launchpad instructions for your applicant category.
Before you submit
ATEP states that it only accepts Indigenous applicants. Confirm the next cohort's availability, your admission category, the live letter instructions, and reference process before applying.
