Yukon University dual-credit letter of intent
Yukon University's Dual Credit route lets eligible Grade 11 and 12 students take university courses or a trades pre-apprenticeship while still in high school. Its 2026–27 application includes a student letter of intent asking why the selected course or program interests the student, how it connects to later study and career goals, and why the student should be admitted. This is a high-school dual-credit application, not a general YukonU first-year essay.

What to prepare
- 1Name the exact course or trades program and explain what draws you to that subject now.
- 2Show how the choice could fit your high-school graduation plan and a possible post-secondary or career direction.
- 3Give a specific reason you are ready for university-level work rather than claiming an interest alone proves readiness.
How to approach the writing
- Discuss the selected course and prerequisites with your teacher or guidance counsellor before writing; the school must confirm that the credits fit your graduation requirements.
- Complete the letter on the current package and keep it separate from the parent or guardian support form and counsellor recommendation.
Before you submit
The published package covers September 2026 through April 2027. Its fall final-transcript date of September 9, 2026 has passed; winter final transcripts are due January 20, 2027. It does not publish a separate letter word limit or application closing date.
