Waterloo Mathematics AIF and supplementary form
Waterloo Mathematics applicants submit the AIF about interests, community, reflection, goals, and activities. A separate mathematics form asks about participation in contests; those contests are optional for admission but matter for some Faculty of Mathematics scholarships.

What to prepare
- 1Prepare distinct 150-word examples for the AIF's interest, community, reflection, and Waterloo-goals questions.
- 2Record activities and hours for the specific 2026 calendar year requested on the form, including work at home where relevant.
- 3Report mathematics contest participation accurately in the supplementary form without treating it as a substitute for the AIF.
How to approach the writing
- Show how your experiences shaped your thinking instead of presenting a list of awards.
- Keep scholarship requirements separate from admission requirements: Waterloo says the listed math contests are not required for admission.
Before you submit
Waterloo lists February 15, 2027 for most Mathematics forms, but applicants who also applied to Engineering must meet the earlier February 1 Engineering deadline. The AIF can be submitted only once.
