Vic One personal statement and stream essay
Vic One asks University of Toronto first-year applicants to describe either three enriching activities from the past two years or a challenging circumstance, explain their interest in Vic One and their selected stream, and answer a short essay question that appears after they choose the stream. Vic One selection is separate from Victoria College admission, and applicants may belong to another U of T college.
Writing format
Activities or circumstances response, personal statement, and stream-specific short essay
What to prepare
- 1Choose the activities or challenging-circumstance route that accurately shows how your experience shaped you; the two are alternatives.
- 2In the personal statement, explain why the specific Vic One stream fits an academic question you want to pursue.
- 3Wait until the stream-specific question appears in the live application before drafting that answer; do not reuse another stream's prompt.
How to approach the writing
- Apply to the University of Toronto first. You may then submit Vic One's separate application before receiving a U of T admission offer.
- Draft answers outside the form and check each field's character count when pasting. Non-Ontario applicants also upload a report card or transcript.
Before you submit
