UNBC Northern Baccalaureate Nursing statement of interest
UNBC's Northern Baccalaureate Nursing Program is an accelerated BScN route for applicants with substantial previous university study. Its competitive application asks for a statement of interest, a résumé, references, a Kira interview, and a separate rural and remote suitability questionnaire. The statement explains why the applicant wants nursing and this particular northern programme; it is not a general first-year nursing essay.

What to prepare
- 1Explain why you want to enter nursing and why the northern programme fits your prior study and intended practice.
- 2Describe specific skills, volunteer work, employment, or other experiences that would strengthen your future work as a nurse.
- 3Keep the rural suitability questionnaire separate: use its own fields for activities, mentors, and connections to northern or remote communities rather than treating it as the statement.
How to approach the writing

- If you have interrupted a nursing programme or request a waiver for old prerequisites, follow the checklist's separate-sheet instructions instead of burying those details in the main statement.
Before you submit
UNBC's 2027 page requires every application component by January 15, 2027 and has paused international applications to this programme. Its linked statement checklist still carries a 2025–26 filename, so confirm its format and any updated forms in the live 2027 application before submission.
