UNB Law JD personal statement
UNB Law requires one personal statement from every first-year JD applicant. Its admissions page suggests personal strengths, reasons for applying, interest in law, career ambitions, and relevant circumstances. It sets no minimum or maximum, though most statements run one to two pages.

- 1Explain the experiences behind your interest in law and what you would bring to legal study, choosing detail over a repeated résumé.
- 2Relate personal circumstances to the selection criteria if applying in the Discretionary or Indigenous category; UNB asks for only one statement.
- 3If you want the committee to consider a disability, read UNB's specific supporting-document and accommodation instructions before deciding what to include.
How to approach the writing
- Use the school's one-to-two-page norm as a planning guide, while remembering it is not a formal limit.
- Upload the statement with the online application or send it to the law admissions address listed by UNB.
Before you submit
