UBC Bachelor of Design creative supplement
UBC's Bachelor of Design in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urbanism uses its own creative test and interview rather than the usual UBC Personal Profile. Applicants receive the assigned projects after submitting the university application.
Writing format
One- or two-page résumé, three assigned design projects, and a video interview
What to prepare
- 1Prepare a clear résumé showing education, work, travel, volunteering, and achievements with timelines.
- 2For each assigned design project, make the concept and your own choices legible through the requested work.
- 3In the video interview, explain how you approach a design problem using an actual project or observation.
How to approach the writing
- Use familiar analog or digital tools; the school does not require prior design-software knowledge.
- Complete the assigned creative test rather than uploading an unsolicited portfolio, which the school says it will not accept.
Before you submit
The published application deadline is January 15 and supplemental items are due January 31. Verify the cycle in the live portal and check every file against its 5 MB limit.
