StFX applied computer science statement of intent
StFX's course-based Master of Applied Computer Science requires a short statement of intent alongside a CV, transcripts, and references. It asks applicants to explain their readiness for graduate study, research interests, career goals, and why they are applying to StFX specifically. This is the MACS route, distinct from the thesis-based MSc in Computer Science.
Writing format
250–500-word statement of intent on qualifications, research interests, goals, and StFX fit
What to prepare
- 1Identify coursework or technical projects that show preparation for advanced computer science study.
- 2Describe a research or applied-computing interest with enough detail to show what you want to investigate or build.
- 3Connect your career direction to the specific course-based MACS program at StFX rather than a generic graduate-degree goal.
How to approach the writing
- Prioritize evidence over a broad autobiography within the 250–500-word range.
- Use the CV for a full project and work history; make the statement explain your choices and fit.
Before you submit
The program page lists May 1 for international applicants but does not name a year or a domestic deadline. Confirm the date for your intended intake in the live application. StFX says the file is not reviewed until all supporting documents and the application fee arrive.
