Sheridan Interior Design statement of intent
Sheridan's Interior Design degree asks applicants for a statement of intent and original creative work in a portfolio. The statement introduces the applicant, explains why they want to study interior design at Sheridan, and describes the intent and decisions behind one to five submitted pieces. This is a program portfolio requirement, not a college-wide essay.

What to prepare
- 1Explain the interest or experience that led you to interior design, then connect it to the pieces you chose.
- 2For each piece, describe the design intent and a concrete decision about process, materials, format, or assembly.
- 3Show what motivates your work without treating the statement as a list of unrelated accomplishments.
How to approach the writing
- Choose one to five original works that reveal different parts of your thinking; Sheridan accepts creative work beyond drawings and room designs.
- Keep the statement readable beside the work, with enough context for a reviewer to see your decisions rather than just the finished result.
Before you submit
Sheridan labels the public 2026–27 sheet a sample and sends the full requirements to applicants. Its fall 2026 timing has passed. Use the current applicant sheet for the submission link, deadline, and any changed instructions.
