Saskatchewan rural agricultural safety scholarship essay
This rural scholarship contest is administered by the University of Saskatchewan's Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health. Eligible Saskatchewan Grade 12 students may plan to study at any Saskatchewan postsecondary school, or elsewhere when their course is unavailable in the province. The essay is for the scholarship contest, not admission to USask.
Writing format
Approximately 1,000 words on one of two published farm safety topics
What to prepare
- 1Choose one published topic: the importance of health and safety on your farm, or health and safety hazards on your farm.
- 2Build the essay around your family's farming experiences and specific safety decisions; the organizer asks for an experience-based essay rather than a research paper.
- 3Write about 1,000 words, double-spaced with one-inch margins, and leave your name off the essay document.
How to approach the writing
- Describe a real hazard or practice, its consequences, and what you learned or would change.
- Keep the application PDF and Word essay as separate attachments with the filenames the organizer requests.
Before you submit
The 2026–27 rules require the application and essay by email by January 15, 2027 at midnight CST. Verify the current contest page before sending; no other essay topics are accepted for this cycle.
