Queen's major admission awards written responses
Queen's Major Admission Awards application is a separate scholarship form in SOLUS after the university admission application. The current practice form publishes the exact online questions: one response on school or community volunteerism and one on a leadership challenge, each capped at 2,500 characters including spaces and returns. Applicants also attach a one-page printable work showing original or creative thinking. The practice PDF is for preparation and cannot itself be submitted.

What to prepare
- 1For the volunteerism response, explain the impact of one example, your reason for doing it, and how it could lead to continued service at Queen's.
- 2For leadership, describe a real obstacle, your response, and what the experience changed in your understanding of leadership.
- 3Choose a one-page original-thinking attachment that makes your reasoning visible, then check that it remains legible when printed in black and white.
How to approach the writing
- Use the activity and employment table for the factual record; the two written responses should explain meaning and judgment rather than repeat the list.
- Check the award category before applying. The Chancellor's category requires a school nomination, and need-based awards require the separate Financial Aid and Awards Profile.
Before you submit
The practice form says to submit the real application through SOLUS by December 8 and says its questions match the online form. Check the live SOLUS deadline and award eligibility. The creative attachment must be one page, at most 4 MB, printable, and named without spaces; the practice PDF must not be emailed as an application.
