Mount Allison's general application offers an optional response for information an applicant wants the university to consider. It is separate from the required letters for transfer and mature applicants and from supporting documents for major scholarships.

What to prepare
- 1Choose an experience, responsibility, interest, or circumstance that gives admissions useful context beyond grades and the activities list.
- 2Explain what you did or learned and why that context matters to your application; do not repeat an award already listed elsewhere.
- 3If a circumstance affected your record, describe its effect clearly and only disclose details you want the admissions team to consider.
How to approach the writing
- Use the optional space only when it adds context; Mount Allison does not present it as a required essay for every high-school applicant.
- Keep the response within 500 words and review the separate scholarship instructions if applying for a major award.
Before you submit
Confirm the live application wording and your applicant category. Transfer and mature applicants have separate letter-of-intent requirements; some major scholarships may need references or other documents.
