Conestoga interior design portfolio essay
Conestoga's August 2027 Honours Bachelor of Interior Design admission route requires a portfolio and writing sample in addition to academic eligibility. Eligible applicants receive an email invitation. The essay asks about interest in and knowledge of interior design as a profession, including how interior design differs from interior decorating. This is a program-specific portfolio essay, not a college-wide admission supplement.

What to prepare
- 1Explain your interest in interior design through a space, problem, project, or observation that shaped your thinking.
- 2Show a practical understanding of interior design as a profession and distinguish it from interior decorating, as Conestoga asks.
- 3If useful, connect an architectural or design influence, or research into organizations such as ARIDO or CIDA, to your own goals rather than listing names.
How to approach the writing
- Build the essay alongside three to five original graphical pieces. Give each piece its title, medium, and a short account of its idea or process.
- Include the required ownership declaration and cover information. After the invitation, send a URL for the online portfolio; Conestoga says not to email a PDF or attachment.
Before you submit
Applicants without art classes may use at least one graphical item and a longer written submission of up to 700 words; ask the program coordinator if that route applies. Degree-completion applicants follow a separate advanced-standing interview and portfolio review. Confirm your invitation and live intake instructions before sending the portfolio link.
