Capilano Musical Theatre letter of intent
Capilano's Musical Theatre diploma has its own letter of intent about why the applicant wants to study MUTH, their theatre background, career goals and training. The School of Performing Arts schedules an audition after the university application. Unlike the Acting for Stage and Screen audition, this one includes a song and a taught group dance alongside a monologue and interview.

What to prepare
- 1Explain why musical theatre at Capilano fits your aims, linking an actual performance or training experience to the program.
- 2Briefly describe the theatre, singing and movement training that shaped you, while staying accurate about areas you are still developing.
- 3Connect a specific career goal to the kind of acting, music and ensemble work you hope to practise in the diploma.
How to approach the writing
- Write to the published letter request rather than assuming an essay prompt or word count that Capilano does not state.
- Submit the separate teacher or theatre-professional recommendation and recent photo before the audition; prepare a monologue, song and short interview, then follow the school's group-dance instructions.
Before you submit
The Fall 2027 application window is October 6, 2026 to June 1, 2027. Apply through EducationPlannerBC before the school schedules an audition, and use its message for the letter's submission method and selected monologues or songs. Distance auditions require a monologue, song, short dance piece and on-camera answers.
