Capilano Acting for Stage and Screen letter of intent
Capilano's Acting for Stage and Screen diploma asks applicants to explain why they want this program and briefly describe their theatre background, career goals and training. The letter is submitted before the audition and interview, along with a recommendation from a teacher or theatre professional and a recent photograph. What to prepare
- 1Explain why stage and screen acting at Capilano fits the work you want to do, using a specific experience instead of a general claim about loving performance.
- 2Select the theatre background and training most relevant to your readiness; briefly say what you learned from rehearsals, classes or productions.
- 3Name a realistic career direction and show how this diploma's acting, movement or screen work would help you pursue it.
How to approach the writing
- Keep the letter focused on the four points Capilano requests. The public page gives no universal word limit, so follow any length or delivery instructions in your audition message.
- Arrange the separate recommendation and photo early, then prepare a monologue and short interview for the individual audition; the group audition is another required component.
Before you submit
Capilano lists October 6, 2026 to June 1, 2027 as the Fall 2027 application window. Apply through EducationPlannerBC first, wait for the School of Performing Arts to schedule the audition, and confirm when and how it wants the letter. Distance applicants receive separate digital-audition instructions.
