Brock Accelerated Mathematics personal statement
Brock's Accelerated Mathematics Studies stream requires a written statement about motivation for the accelerated route and the aptitudes and experiences that support independent mathematical study. A separate activities portfolio can document contests, camps, tutoring, independent work, advanced credits, or projects. The department also assesses applicants through an examination and interview.

What to prepare
- 1Explain why the accelerated stream suits the mathematics you already pursue outside regular classes, using one specific problem or area of interest.
- 2Show evidence of self-directed learning and how you handled a difficult concept, rather than repeating your grades.
- 3Use the statement to interpret selected evidence from the separate portfolio; list dates and formal results in the portfolio itself.
How to approach the writing
- Apply to the accelerated Mathematics and Statistics route, then prepare the AMS form, statement, and activities portfolio as separate documents.
- The department's guidelines permit Word or PDF files; verify the current submission address and any form-specific limits before sending them.
Before you submit
Brock's central Fall 2027 admissions list and department PDF give February 1 for guaranteed consideration, but a department webpage also mentions February 5. Confirm the live deadline with Brock and submit by the earlier published date when possible.
