Algoma Master of Psychotherapy personal statement
Algoma's Master of Psychotherapy asks applicants for a personal statement at the first application stage. The school gives three areas to address: a formative insight or motivation, fit for psychotherapy training, and the reason for choosing Algoma's program. An interview belongs to a later, invitation-only stage.

- 2Show fit with this program using preparation and qualities relevant to clinical learning, rather than making unsupported claims about future practice.
- 3Explain why Algoma's Master of Psychotherapy is the program you chose, using its actual training structure and your learning needs.
How to approach the writing
- Use single spacing and a 12-point font, then save the statement as a PDF within the two-page, 1,000-word maximum.
- Keep the statement distinct from the PDF résumé and two referee submissions; the school contacts referees directly.
Before you submit
The Fall 2027 application closes November 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. Referees have until November 15 to submit letters. Confirm both dates and the live portal checklist before submitting; the interview follows only if invited.
