Acadia Counselling personal reflection statement
Acadia asks Counselling applicants to reflect on their motivation for graduate training, strengths they would bring to counselling, and how the program fits their professional goals. This is a program-specific graduate requirement, not an undergraduate supplement. Acadia says the M.Ed. Counselling degree title may change after approval, so use the name shown in the live application.
Writing format
Written reflection of at most 500 words, or an audio, video, or explained visual response of at most five minutes
What to prepare
- 1Explain why this is the right time for graduate counselling training, using a concrete experience that shaped the decision.
- 2Show a personal strength and a strength gained through work or life experience, with evidence of how each would help you learn or practise responsibly.
- 3Connect your intended work after graduation to the training Acadia offers, without presenting admission as a clinical credential by itself.
How to approach the writing
- Answer all three published reflection questions. A written response must stay within 500 words; audio and video submissions must stay within five minutes.
- If you use visual work, include audio or video that explains how it answers all three questions. Upload the response through the Applicant Status Portal after applying.

Acadia does not set a universal deadline on this instruction page. Confirm the next Counselling intake, the program's current degree title, and the portal's accepted file types before submitting; material beyond the published limits is not reviewed.
