Acadia Clinical Psychology applied and research statements
Acadia's Clinical Psychology MSc asks for two different statements. The applied-interest statement covers academic and clinical interests, preparation, career aims, and Acadia fit. The research statement explains readiness for a master's thesis, research coursework and experience, areas of interest, and potential supervisors. One generic personal statement does not replace both documents.
Writing format
Separate single-spaced applied-interest and research statements, each one to three pages
What to prepare
- 1In the applied-interest statement, explain the clinical questions you hope to study and why Acadia's program fits your preparation and goals.
- 2In the research statement, identify the research work and methods that prepared you for a thesis, then describe a feasible area of inquiry.
- 3Name potential supervisors whose work fits that inquiry; keep any voluntary special-circumstances explanation clearly labelled and relevant to your record.
How to approach the writing
- Draft the applied and research statements as separate documents, each within Acadia's single-spaced one-to-three-page limit.
- Upload both through the Applicant Status Portal after submitting the graduate application; check the portal for other required evidence and references.
