Sciences Po graduate applicants enter a motivation letter directly in the online application. A student applying to two programmes writes two separate letters, and a specialty may require an additional motivation. The letter must show knowledge of the selected programme, explain the applicant's path and academic interests, connect it to a professional direction, and describe a contribution to the academic community. It is distinct from Sciences Po's undergraduate motivation questions.

Before you submit
Sciences Po says 2027 international two-year master's applications open at the end of September 2026. Check whether your degree puts you in the domestic or international procedure, and verify the programme's language, deadline, specialty question, and live word limit. Its FAQ gives a 1,000-word ceiling, but the portal's limit controls.
