Leiden University College Global Challenges application writing
The 2027 LUC form asks about the applicant, the Global Challenges curriculum, a first-year course, mathematics preparation, possible majors, and an issue with local and global consequences. A later selection stage includes a written reflection after an online pre-admission class.

Academic integrity
Leiden University College says the LUC form must be completed in your own words without AI, and it also prohibits AI for the pre-admission class reflection. Do not use an AI writer for either submission.
What to prepare
- 1In the form, explain what draws you to Global Challenges and connect that interest to a specific first-year course.
- 2Account for your mathematics course choice and the major or majors you might pursue, without pretending your plans are fixed.
- 3Analyze one local issue, its causes and wider effects, then describe a contribution you could make to a global challenge.
- 4Prepare to reflect on the pre-admission class in the separate 30-minute written selection exercise.
How to approach the writing
- Read the current form's answer boxes and address each question separately; it does not publish a universal word limit.
- Use your own observations and reasons so the academic choices and issue analysis sound consistent across the form.
