Groningen Global Politics & Sustainability motivation
Groningen's selective BSc Global Politics & Sustainability asks applicants for a motivation in written or video form and a CV. The selection guidance looks for curiosity, a global challenge that matters to the applicant, and willingness to learn from different perspectives.
Writing format
Motivation letter up to 500 words or a video up to three minutes, plus CV
Academic integrity
Groningen strongly discourages AI tools creating selection documents. Let your own interests, experiences, and voice carry the motivation.
What to prepare
- 1Name a question about politics or sustainability you want to understand more deeply and explain why it holds your attention.
- 2Choose a global or societal issue and describe your engagement with it, including an honest desire to learn if you have no formal project experience.
- 3Explain what learning alongside people with different perspectives would add to your thinking and what you could contribute.
How to approach the writing
- Choose the letter or video route that lets your own ideas come through; Groningen assesses the motivation, not an impressive list of activities.
- Keep the CV factual and complementary to the motivation. Ordinary commitments and family responsibilities may be relevant.
