Ashoka University application essays
Ashoka's current published undergraduate process requires responses to three personal essay prompts in the application and an on-the-spot essay during assessment. The timed essay uses one of two prompts and tests reasoning as well as writing.

What to prepare
- 1Answer each of the three application prompts on its own terms, using personal or intellectual experiences that reveal how you think.
- 2For the on-the-spot essay, practice taking a position, explaining it with examples, and considering another view under time pressure.
- 3Ashoka's published 2026 assessment guidance allows 30 minutes and no external resources; it provides sample prompts rather than the live prompt.
How to approach the writing
- Prepare a method, not a memorized answer: understand the question, outline an argument, and reserve time to revise.
- The application essays and timed essay can demonstrate different strengths; avoid rehearsing the same story for every response.

The 2027 application opens October 7, 2026. The three-essay count comes from Ashoka's current published process; recheck the new form, prompts, and assessment rules when it opens. Do not treat prior sample prompts as this year's actual questions.
