Amsterdam PPLE personal statement
PPLE asks applicants to explain their personal story and motivation for its Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics program. The form calls the statement a motivation letter. Applicants also upload a short CV focused on their educational path; invited applicants later complete separate study and financial plans.

What to prepare
- 1Choose a personal experience that shows how your interests developed beyond the facts on your transcript and CV.
- 2Explain why examining one issue through politics, psychology, law, and economics appeals to you, rather than just listing the four subjects.
- 3Show why PPLE's intensive, small-scale interdisciplinary teaching suits the way you learn and what you hope to pursue.
- 4Keep the later study and financial plans separate from the initial personal statement; PPLE provides their templates only to applicants who advance.
How to approach the writing
- Build the 500-word statement around one personal thread, then connect it to PPLE's specific academic structure.
- Use the CV to clarify your educational timeline, especially any school moves or gaps, without turning it into a second essay.
Before you submit
For September 2027, submit the statement and CV through the University of Amsterdam SIS portal by February 1, 2027, 23:59 CET. Studielink registration alone is insufficient; confirm the live checklist and second-round instructions if invited.
