About this scholarship
Simon Fraser University undergraduates who wrote a superior term report or essay on African, Middle Eastern, or Asian history in one of the three previous terms. Originality in analysis and treatment is weighted heavily.
One prize of $1,600 is awarded.
Submit the essay to the Department of History by April 15. The prize is granted by the Senate Undergraduate Awards Adjudication Committee on nomination of the Department of History Awards Committee; there is no separate application beyond the essay submission.

What else to submit
- Term report or essay submitted to the SFU Department of History by April 15.
- Must be an undergraduate student at Simon Fraser University
- Must be enrolled in an upper-division African, Middle Eastern, or Asian History course
- Submit the best essay written for such a course; essay must have been written in one of the three previous terms
- Essays submitted to the SFU History Department by April 15th
- Special consideration given to originality of analysis and treatment of the area
- The Senate Undergraduate Awards Adjudication Committee grants the prize on nomination of the Department of History Awards Committee; there is no separate application beyond essay submission.
