William D. and Jewell Brewer Scholarship

Michigan residents who are high school seniors or college students without a bachelor's degree may apply if they are a child, stepchild, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a wartime veteran or active-duty service member.

Five non-renewable awards of $500 each are made each spring for enrollment at a nationally accredited college, university, or trade school. Selection weighs academic performance, leadership, financial need, and proof of the veteran's honorable service.

Applicants need at least a 2.5 GPA and documentation such as a DD-214 or active-duty ID. Apply through the American Legion Department of Michigan by January 5.
