About this scholarship
Undergraduate or graduate students at U.S. institutions who have demonstrated journalistic skills or are studying journalism may apply for this Right to Work scholarship from the National Institute for Labor Relations Research.
One $2,000 award is announced after the April board meeting.
Submit a 500 to 700 word essay on compulsory unionism, a transcript or acceptance letter, and a photo via the online application between September 1 and December 31.

- Submit a copy of either (a) your acceptance letter or (b) your most recent transcript
- Provide proof of enrollment in a journalism program or proof of journalistic skills via actual journalistic works (which can include social media)
- Attach a photo to the application
- Winners must provide a copy of their official transcript at the end of the academic year
- Application window runs annually September 1 to December 31 (mailed applications postmarked in this window, arriving by January 10)
