About this scholarship

Outstanding UBC Vancouver graduate students studying Plant Science or Soil Science in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems whose research focuses on Western Grains Research Foundation priorities may be considered for this scholarship. Eligible crops include barley, canaryseed, canola, chickpea, corn, fababean, flax, lentil, mustard, oats, pea, soybean, sunflower, wheat, and winter cereals.

The award amount varies. Scholarships are funded through a gift from Western Grains Research Foundation, a farmer-funded non-profit organization founded in 1981 that funds research in variety development and production.

Recipients are recommended by the Faculty of Land and Food Systems in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
