About this scholarship
High school seniors and current undergraduates from one of 23 qualifying counties in Georgia or South Carolina whose permanent address is in the region may apply. Students must attend a four-year, regionally accredited nonprofit U.S. college or university.
Need- and merit-based scholarships are renewable for up to four years at up to $5,000 per year. Funds are mailed to the college twice yearly. Renewal requires reapplication with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

- High school and/or college transcript
- One letter of recommendation
- Parent/guardian's most recent Federal IRS Form 1040 (first two pages)
- Resume or list of extracurricular activities
- Financial Need Statement
- One approximately 500-word essay selected from the offered prompts
- Applicant chooses ONE of the four essay topics
- Approximately 500 words (an essay previously written for college admission may be reused if it meets this length)
- Include your full name and the essay prompt number at the top of the document
- High school and/or college transcript
- One letter of recommendation
- SAT and/or ACT scores (high school students only; not required for current college students)
- First two pages of parent/guardian's most recent Federal IRS Form 1040
- Resume or list of extracurricular activities
- Financial Need Statement
- High school applicants must submit SAT and/or ACT scores; current college students do not need scores.
