About this scholarship
Single mothers who provide primary support for custodial children, show academic promise with at least a 3.0 GPA, and are enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at a Houston-area nursing school may apply for the Washington-Nixon Nursing Scholarship from Nurses Helping Nurses. Financial need is considered when choosing among equally meritorious candidates.
Award amounts and the number of awards vary.
Applications are accepted November 1 through January 5 for the spring semester and April 1 through June 5 for the fall semester. The scholarship was founded by LeShea Washington-Nixon, MSN, RN, to help nursing students complete their degrees.
