About this scholarship

Maryland residents with substantial financial need who are nominated by a high school counselor, community leader, teacher, or Washington College admissions counselor may be considered. Nominees must complete the FAFSA and MHEC One-App and be Pell- and Guaranteed Access Grant-eligible.

The renewable annual award covers tuition, housing at the double-room rate, and the meal plan. Recipients are responsible for $2,500 per year, books, and other indirect costs. The program also includes intentional programming, cultural excursions, mentorship, and workshops.

Nominated students invited to interview visit campus for an academic experience and scholarship interview. Application materials (form, FAFSA, MHEC One-App, admissions essay, counselor recommendation, transcript, and SAT/ACT scores or test-optional form) are due by January 1; the FAFSA must be completed by January 20.
