W. J. Stankiewicz Memorial Award in Political Science

Open to outstanding graduate students in the UBC Department of Political Science.

Award amounts vary. Annual awards are funded by a gift from the estate of Dr. Marketa Goetz-Stankiewicz (1927–2022) in memory of Dr. W. J. Stankiewicz (1922–2006).

There is no separate student application. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Political Science in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Dr. Stankiewicz was a political philosopher and UBC professor from 1957 until his retirement in 1987, with published work on democracy, foreign policy, and political theory.
