About this scholarship
Vermont residents who are single parents with primary custody of at least one child age 12 or younger may apply through VSAC for the Bernice Murray Scholarship. Applicants must be seeking an undergraduate degree, enrolled at least part-time, demonstrate financial need, and attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding.
Awards are up to $4,000. Up to four scholarships are available.
Selection is based on financial need, a recommendation letter, and a personal essay. Apply with the VSAC Unified Scholarship Application and FAFSA during the October-through-deadline window. The scholarship was created by former U.S. Senator James M. Jeffords and family and friends of Bernice Murray, a longtime aide, to honor her work improving the lives of Vermonters.
