Vishwa and Leela Mathur Scholarship in Wood Science

Graduate students in the Faculty of Forestry at UBC Vancouver studying wood science are eligible for these scholarships, with preference given to students researching or studying wood preservation. Scholarships totalling $3,300 are distributed among recipients; individual award amounts vary. There is no student application; awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The scholarships are funded through an endowment established by Dr. Vishwa Mathur, a wood science researcher who worked at MacMillan Bloedel Research in Vancouver for over ten years and later served as a Scientific Advisor for the Canadian Forest Service, and honour his wife Leela Mathur (1936-2013).
