About this scholarship
Virginia residents enrolled full time at eligible private nonprofit Virginia colleges may apply for Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) funding toward tuition. Applicants must have lived in Virginia for at least one year and comply with Selective Service requirements. Theological or religious training majors are excluded; graduate awards apply only to health-related programs.
Undergraduate awards range up to $5,250 per academic year depending on enrollment mode. Graduate health-professional awards reach up to $12,750 at select institutions. VTAG is merit-based with no financial need requirement.
Submit the VTAG application to your institution's financial aid office by September 15, or by December 1 if funds remain.

- Completed and signed VTAG application submitted to the institution's financial-aid office
- Domicile-establishing information, such as Virginia employment, tax filing, voter registration, driver's license, or vehicle registration
- Domiciled resident of Virginia for at least one year (or a dependent of eligible military personnel)
- Enrolled full-time at an eligible Virginia private nonprofit college/university in an eligible degree program
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident (or provide INS documentation)
- Selective Service registration compliance (if male)
- Submit the completed, signed VTAG application form to the institution's financial aid office
- Priority application deadline July 31; final deadline December 1 (subject to funding)
- Provide domicile-establishing information (Virginia employment, tax filing, voter registration, driver's license, vehicle registration)
