About this scholarship
Students pursuing a degree in education who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and a passion for teaching may apply for the Vicki Soto Memorial Scholarship. Two of the four annual awards are designated for students from Stratford, Connecticut high schools; the program also accepts candidates from across Connecticut and the United States.
Four recipients each receive a four-year renewable award totaling $12,000.
Complete the official application with transcripts, documentation of extracurricular involvement, and required essays or personal statements. The scholarship honors Vicki Soto, a Stratford educator.

- Guidance counselor and applicant certification signatures
- Required essays or personal statements
- Eligibility: full-time high school senior at an accredited 4-year high school, intending to pursue a career in the field of education at an accredited college
- Minimum 3.4 GPA on a 4.0 scale (will consider 3.0+ if other qualifications are met)
- Submit SAT/ACT test results (if the student has taken either exam)
- Official high school transcript in a sealed envelope
- One letter of recommendation from a current teacher in a sealed envelope
- List of school honors/awards/activities, leadership experience, and community service
- Confidential parent/guardian financial information form
- Guidance counselor certification and applicant certification signatures; permission to use senior picture
- Possible phone or Skype/FaceTime interview as needed
- Application is mailed to The Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, Inc., Stratford CT
- SAT or ACT results are required only if the applicant has taken either exam.
- An interview may be requested.
- Two awards are designated for students from Stratford, Connecticut high schools, but applicants from elsewhere in Connecticut and the United States are also accepted.
