About this scholarship

College students enrolled in a two- or four-year program and pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in the social sciences may apply for the Veralene Garrett Memorial Scholarship. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 GPA and must plan a career in public service.

The award is $2,500. Finalists participate in a short interview with the scholarship committee.

Complete the application form, submit a faculty or leadership recommendation, provide a college transcript, and include a summary of school and community activities. The scholarship honors Veralene Garrett's 25 years as a rape crisis counselor for Community Violence Solutions in Contra Costa and Marin counties.
