About this scholarship

Utah residents ages 16 to 18 may enter the Jiffy Lube "What Drives You?" High School Scholarship Program. Write a 500-word essay on what drives you. Three finalists each receive $1,500, and the overall winner receives a $6,500 scholarship.

Finalists create and submit a one- to two-minute video expanding on their essay. The top prize is chosen from those video submissions. Each finalist is guaranteed at least $1,500.

500-word-or-less essay
One essay of 500 words or less is the core application requirement.
Finalists only (selected after essay round) must additionally create and submit a unique 1-2 minute short video expanding on their essay.
Finalists must submit at least 5 portrait-style and/or candid photographs plus a signed model/image release form.
Eligibility: Utah high school students; Category 1 (driver's ed enrollees ages 15-17) or Category 2 (licensed teen drivers ages 16-18). Not based on GPA.
Finalists must submit a unique one- to two-minute video expanding on their essay.
Finalists must submit at least five portrait-style or candid photographs and a signed model/image release form.
