About this scholarship

UCLA graduate students of color studying international relations or related globalization fields who demonstrate financial need, leadership, and academic achievement may apply through the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations.

Several scholarships of up to $4,000 per academic year are awarded annually. Applicants must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA during the award year and be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, AB540 eligible, or DACA recipients.

Submit your application by February 24 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.

These scholarships are funded by a generous gift from Alice Belkin to support outstanding graduate students of color in international relations.

  • Financial support documentation listing all other funding sources with amounts for academic years 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 (applied-for, pending, and received)
  • Two letters of recommendation from professors or mentors, emailed directly to burkle@international.ucla.edu
  • Eligibility: enrolled in a graduate degree program at UCLA, studying fields related to globalization or international relations, minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Deadline: Friday, February 27, 2026 at 5 PM (PT)
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA during the award year.
