About this scholarship

Undergraduate students on the UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan campuses who demonstrate significant inquiry using UBC Library resources and collections, and who can reflect in writing on their research and information-gathering process, may apply for the UBC Undergraduate Prize in Library Research. Eligible course-based research papers or projects must have been completed between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025.

Prizes totalling $8,950 are available through an endowment that includes gifts from donors and the estate of Mary Joan Mitchell (1930-2021). At the adjudication committee's discretion, one prize of $3,000, two of $2,000, and two of $1,500 may be awarded. Not all prizes are awarded every year.

Apply through the online application form. The submission deadline is February 28, 2026.
