About this scholarship
Outstanding graduate students in the UBC Vancouver School of Nursing who are focusing on cancer nursing through research or projects may be considered for this scholarship.
The award amount varies. Scholarships are funded through an endowment established by family, friends, and colleagues in memory of Tracy Truant (1963-2021).
Recipients are recommended by the School of Nursing in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
Tracy (B.S.N. 1988, M.S.N. 1998, Ph.D. 2018) played a leading role in the development of cancer nursing in British Columbia and internationally. She was instrumental in establishing national practice guidelines and promoted models of care designed to support cancer patients and their families. In 2018 she received the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology's Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2019 the UBC School of Nursing Centenary Medal of Distinction.
