Tomas Yebes Award in Law

Open to J.D. students at the Peter A. Allard School of Law who have made exceptional contributions to the UBC Innocence Project.

Award amounts vary. Gifts from counsel Richard Fowler, KC, Don Sorochan, KC, and Marilyn Sandford, KC, support the awards in honour of Tomas Yebes.

No separate student application. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Peter A. Allard School of Law.

Tomas was wrongfully convicted for the murder of his two sons in 1983 and was exonerated after nearly 40 years through the work of counsel, expert witnesses, and students from the UBC Innocence Project. The award celebrates his humility and determination in proving his innocence.
