About this scholarship

Residents of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont who are enrolled full-time in an accredited landscape, horticulture, or related undergraduate or graduate program may apply through the Horticultural Research Institute common application. Attendance at a New England institution is not required. Applicants need a minimum 2.25 GPA (3.0 for graduate students) and must demonstrate intent to work in the nursery or landscape industry.

The Timothy S. and Palmer W. Bigelow, Jr. Scholarship provides awards of varying amounts. Preference goes to applicants with financial need or plans to own a horticulture business.

The scholarship was created by the Bigelow family of Bigelow Nurseries in Northboro, Massachusetts, to support New England students pursuing horticulture careers.
