About this scholarship

UBC Vancouver varsity student-athletes on any team who are First Nations, Inuit, or Métis of Canada and/or who identify as Black and/or as a Person of Colour may be considered for these athletic awards. Preference is given to student-athletes who identify as South Asian.

Awards totalling $10,000 are available annually from Gary Pooni of the Pooni Group and Mina Pooni of the Pooni Group Foundation. Individual awards may range from $500 to the maximum allowable under athletic association regulations. The Athletics Awards Committee recommends recipients.
