About this scholarship
High school seniors from one of Ohio's 32 Appalachian counties or Geauga County who plan to pursue a degree in medicine or the arts at an accredited college or university may apply for the Whetstone Family Foundation Scholarship.
Award amounts vary based on financial need and available funding. Multiple scholarships are awarded each year, and the award is renewable if eligibility criteria continue to be met.
Applicants submit a completed application by April 30, personal essays responding to a designated arts or medicine prompt about Appalachia, a resume, and two letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or community leaders.
