About this scholarship
For J.D. students at the Peter A. Allard School of Law who have accepted summer or articling positions in underserved and/or rural communities in British Columbia, or in the area of public interest or social justice law in British Columbia. Preference may be given to students who have accepted articling positions over those who have accepted summer positions.
Multiple awards are made from an endowment each year; individual award values vary. Students apply through the Allard continuing student awards application, and awards are made on the recommendation of the Peter A. Allard School of Law.
The awards honour The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, a former UBC Law faculty member and the first woman appointed Chief Justice of Canada. They were endowed by the Law Foundation of British Columbia, the Peter A. Allard School of Law, and members of the BC Bar.
